General product description
The KOND program serves for the calculation of shell-and-tube condensers for pure vapours with desuperheating, condensation and subcooling zones. The condensation can either take place around the tubes or in the tubes. No subcooling of the condensate is calculated for horizontal condensers with shell-side condensation.
The condensers can be arranged horizontally or vertically.
The KOND program is based on the WTS program and needs that program for the calculation. Therefore, the operation of KOND is almost identical to the WTS program.
The design layout of the shell-side and tube-side of the heat exchanger can be specified according to the TEMA code or according to a company standard. The TEMA code can be selected as a general option, whereas the company standard has to be managed by the user himself by given dimensions which can be edited.
The tubesheet is generated by the program and then adapted to the user's special requirements. The data can be transferred to a CAD program.
Depending on position (horizontal / vertical), type of media and place of condensation different equations are applied for desuperheating and subcooling. The theory for the heat transfer of the cooling medium is based on correlations found in the VDI Heat Atlas.
The condensation medium is any pure substance. The according properties modules provide the physical properties for the desuperheating zone, condensation zone and subcooling zone. Optionally the LV properties data base PROPER can be used as well.
