MESK module – multi-component condenser
The MESK module designs multi-component condensers cell by cell. The phase equilibrium and mixture properties of every cell come from the PROP property module, which uses the open-source process simulator DWSIM for them.
Licence compliance when using DWSIM
DWSIM is licensed under the GPL-3.0-or-later without a linking exception. LV Atlas therefore contains no DWSIM code; the property calculation is addressed exclusively across a process boundary. The accompanying document describes that path verifiably and sets out the obligations that apply to DWSIM itself on distribution.
MESK and DWSIM — Licence Compliance (PDF, 3 pages)
The document is technical documentation and not legal advice; the legal assessment and distribution to customers are decided by company management.
Choosing the property package
Choosing the property package is an engineering decision and is independent of the licensing question. For polar, associating mixtures – acetone/water, for instance – activity-coefficient models (NRTL, UNIQUAC, UNIFAC) yield dependable bubble and dew lines. A cubic equation of state such as Peng-Robinson can produce unusable curves there.
