General information
The RING module is based on the guideline TGL 32903/22 (November 1983). The guideline applies to the strength calculation of vessels with U-shaped, cylindrical or anchored double shell and to other designs; the guideline is only applicable to apparatus made of steel.
The RING module covers the following areas from the guideline TGL 32903/22 (November 1983):
Section 3 - Vessel with U-shaped double shell
Section 4 - Vessels with cylindrical double shell
The fatigue-strength-substantiations are not included in the RING module.
The scope of the formulas specified in the guideline is given in Section 2.
Main limitations:
Diameter ratio D2/D1 <= 1.2
Ratio wall thickness/diameter of sheath 0.001 ... 0.05
Wall thickness ratio s2/s1 <= 1.2
Taper connection angle 30 °, 45 °
Welds fully penetrated and counter-welded if necessary
The RING module is part of the ATLAS program system. The operation of the RING module is carried out according to the general rules of the ATLAS program package. General hints for data input, documentation, parameter studies, linking with EXCEL etc. is included in the general help file of ATLAS.
