General product description

Module 18T4

Program 18T4 implements DIN 18800, Part 4, November 1990.

This norm applies to shell structures made of steel and is to be used with Part 1 of the norm. The norm can also be applied to materials other than steel, taking into account the material characteristics.

DIN 18800, Part 4 regulates the stability verification for the case of shell buckling (buckling safety verification) of various shell constructions:

·         Circular cylindrical shells with constant wall thickness

·         Circular cylinder shells with graduated wall thickness

·         Cone shells with constant wall thickness

·         Spherical shells with constant wall thickness

According to the boundary conditions, the application of the norm is also applicable to shell parts and sections of composite shells.

General procedure of the calculation

The program does not distinguish between an operation for data input and a calculation operation. Input, output and calculation take place simultaneously. Each data input immediately triggers a calculation step.

The user decides which value is a default value or a result value. Depending on the entered values, possible calculation steps are executed immediately.

For more information on the various processing rules, please refer to the description of the ATLAS program system.

Examples for the selection of the different designs and the input of the data into the calculation mask can be found in the section calculation examples.
