Engineering guide

The WRB module belongs to the family of general thermodynamic and fluid dynamic calculations in the LV-Soft library. It sits in the program environment of the tube bundle and heat transfer modules, complementing related building blocks such as the calculation of heat transfer in tube bundles in cross flow.

Like all modules of the library, WRB works with a defined input and output mask: geometry, operating and property data are specified, the result quantities are determined according to the implemented calculation procedure, and they can be linked with other modules of a project so that intermediate results are passed on consistently. A detailed description of the calculation scope is provided by the module's mask documentation.

Typical workflow

  1. Enter the input data

The geometric and operational input values are entered in the module's input mask; fluid properties can be taken over from the property modules of the library.

  2. Run the calculation

The module executes the implemented calculation procedure and fills in the result quantities; plausibility and range checks flag inadmissible input combinations.

  3. Adopt and document the results

The results can be transferred to linked modules of the project and documented in the calculation report.

Frequently asked questions

How can the exact calculation scope of the WRB module be determined?

The authoritative calculation scope is given by the input mask and the associated module help in the application. There, the input and result quantities with their units as well as the underlying calculation method are described.

Can WRB be coupled with other modules of a project?

Yes. Like all modules of the library, WRB can take over values from other modules of the same project and pass on its own results — for example fluid properties from the property data modules or geometry data from an upstream equipment calculation.
