The SPIE module
For the design of shell-and-tube heat exchangers an exact specification of the tubesheet is required. The arrangement of the individual tubes in the shell region, the number of tube-side passes, the layout of the cross baffles and the longitudinal baffle as well as the pass partition have an impact on the thermal design and serve as basis for construction.
The SPIE module is a program for designing tubesheets for shell-and-tube heat exchangers. It consists of a graphical and a numerical part. The tubesheet can be composed by the user himself in all details. 30000 tubes can be presented and edited. Tie rods and dummy tubes may be presented and considered as well.

There are two different methods for creating a tubesheet:
Design method
Specifying the number of tubes and the shell diameter is determined
Rating method
Specifying the shell diameter and the number of tubes is determined
You can create tubesheets with 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 tube side passes by default, whereas 3 tube-side passes is a new feature.
The tubesheet is displayed in the program mask. It can be edited and documented. The tubesheet data can be saved to a tubesheet library and then be used in the LV heat exchanger programs WTS, KOND and VERD.
Furthermore, you can have the program generate a tubesheet which you can modify yourself later using SPIE.
The generated tubesheet data can be saved in a file in DXF format and can be processed in various CAD programs.
